Our goal at Chesapeake Skiff is to build a quality boat using quality materials and sound construction methods. Our variable degree deep vee hull is a proven design that gives a soft, dry ride without the roll of traditional deep vee hulls. We use vinyl ester resins like those used in hi performance boats to make it stronger and resistant to osmosis blistering. We bond an all fiberglass stinger system into the hull to give it rigidity and strength. We then bond the cockpit liner to the stringers, hull sides and hull deck joint. One ride will tell you this is one solid hull.
The stringer system incorporates a separate engine compartment with a smooth glossy gel coat finish for easy clean up. Inside the stringer system are PVC conduits for wiring, control cables and fuel lines. Our transoms are constructed without wood using a foam core between heavy layers of fiberglass. The hull itself uses no coring, just solid fiberglass laminates.
Our electrical system uses two Optima batteries connected to a four position selector switch. There is a separate circuit breaker at the battery selector switch that feeds the accessory and electronics fuse panels. All wiring is tinned as per ABYC standards.
The fuel system incorporates a rotationally mold fuel tank that is easily removable if ever needed. There is a Racor fuel filter / water separator located under the hinged console. |
